Founded in 1915, Steelcote Manufacturing Company became a position leader in the world development of coatings, sealants and epoxies. Steelcote's compelling force to stay in the front lines of competition has resulted in a number of firsts within the coatings industry. Beginning with Steelcote's first rubber enamel coating in 1926, which became the largest selling automotive brush applied enamel in the world, to the introduction of Damp-Tex, a wet surface enamel that resists molds and fungus and has been used extensively in dairies and breweries, including St. Louis's own Anheuser-Busch. The invention of Floor-Nu in 1962 slated yet another coating industry first as an epoxy-based, aggregate filled concrete floor topping used for protection from acids and other extreme corrosives.
